Curated the legendary exhibition "Freeze", London
Develops the first Medicine Cabinets, "Sinner" and "Enemy", which use the aesthetics of minimalism to explore the phenomenon of "natural sciences as a new religion" (Hirst)
1991
First solo exhibition in London. "In and Out of Love" (White Paintings and Live Butterflies) opens in Woodstock Street, an installation in two rooms with butterflies; the installation "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" is created.
Start of the "Natural History" series: animals in glass and steel showcases with formaldehyde solution; in 1992 the shark piece "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" (1991) is exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery
1993
Receives a one-year DAAD scholarship for Berlin.
45th Biennale, Venice: is selected for the "Aperto" section, shows "Mother and Child Divided".
1994
Works intensively on the "Spin Paintings" in Berlin

First "fly-painting"

Founding member of the London artist movement "Young British Artists"

Hirst's first graphic cycle, "Le Last Supper" (13 screen prints), is published by The Paragon Press, London

"For the Love of God", a platinum cast of an 18th century human skull completely covered in pavé-set diamonds, will be shown alongside the new series "Biopsy Paintings" and "Birth Paintings" in the exhibition "Beyond Belief" at the White Cube locations in Hoxton Square and Mason's Yard, London. As before, Hirst's works are explorations of central themes of human existence

"The Complete Spot Paintings" will open on 12 January at the Gargosian branches in Athens, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris and Rome

Damian Hirst lives and works in London, Gloucestershire and Devon.
He has had more than 80 solo exhibitions since 1987 and his work has been represented in over 260 group exhibitions worldwide.
