Art Expertise Since 1955

Experience, expert knowledge and long-term relationships ensure the quality of advice essential for customers, collectors and participants on the art market. As a partner with proven expertise, the Galerie Koch feels bound by this principle and can now look back at a history extending almost 60 years.

After its establishment by the Greifswald businessman and art collector Bruno Koch in 1955, Jürgen and Angelika Koch, the founder’s son and daughter-in-law, laid the foundation for the family succession in the business. Now in the third generation, the gallery has been headed since late 2003 by Ole-Christian Koch and his sister Petra together with their father. The tradition-rich Hannover institution was first located on Theaterstraße 15 and since the late 1970s in its present site on Königstraße 50.

The gallery specialises in Modern artworks, selected examples of Contemporary Art and important Post-War artists from the second half of the 20th century. Influential solo exhibitions have been devoted in past years to such artists as Max Liebermann, Heinrich Zille, Jacques Lipchitz, E.L. Kirchner, Fritz Klimsch, Wilhelm Busch, Otto Modersohn, Horst Janssen, Lyonel Feininger, Frank Auerbach, Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Alexej von Jawlensky, Horst Antes, Sam Francis and Otto Piene,

The Galerie Koch publishes high-quality catalogues to accompany its exhibitions. It is the only gallery in Lower Saxony to have a presence at Art Cologne, thereby also regularly substantiating its international reputation.
